Acknowledgement In Memory Of Rod Wilson

1942-2026

Its is with a very heavy heart that we have to announce the passing of my cousin and Co Founder member of One Thing Audio, Rod Wilson (Known to many in the trade as Ron Best)

He was an inspiration to us all.

Born in Leicester, from a young age he was introduced to Classical music by his elder brother Colin Wilson (Author), and it became a major part of his life, A passion that was enhanced by high fidelity of the time, From brands such as Radford, Leak, Garrard. and of course Quad.

His working career in HiFi started with RSC, (Realistic Sound Centres) beginning in Leicester and progressing to Branch Manager in Coventry, where he employed Steven Williams as his assistant. ( Seed set for OTA).

Rod secured the dealership for Quad equipment to be retailed and also began to service the original Quad Electrostatic Loudspeakers, Having owned a pair himself for a number of years.

When R.S.C ceased trading, Rod and Steve set up Coventry HiFi, again securing the dealership to sell Quad products and carried on the servicing of Quad Loudspeakers and other equipment repairs.

When Coventry HiFi Closed the doors, Rod concentrated on the workings of the original 57 speakers. He painstakingly explored all avenues for modern up to date materials and components, and after years of research and development, produced a complete rebuild of the speaker to a standard revered to by the likes of Hifi World Magazine (See press review page) And many satisfied clientele. A Great Achievement!

Rod will be sadly missed by many and by the many that he made happy!

Thank you Rod for being my teacher, Your work lives on.

Take a bow Maestro, You deserve the applause.

R.I.P Rod. April 2026.
